Nearly all the people playing this game haven't played a Pokemon game in 15 years.
Where did you pull that ridiculously broad statement from?

Have you seen the following this game has? Celebrities, mothers, dudebros are playing this shit. Just yesterday, I saw a bunch of Bogans ( Australian Rednecks) playing.

90% of the people at my school are playing this game, and only a month ago I can guarantee they'd never touch a Pokemon game in their life.

I don't believe it will start a 2nd Golden Age for Pokemon simply because Pokemon Go is appealing to the mass casual audience à la Candy Crush.
Sure things are a bit crazy now but I'm pretty sure it will die down by the end of the summer break.
Even if it dies down, don't get me wrong, they will have gathered a pretty big base following.

I doubt it. Those same nostalgiafags have been also playing Silver, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, White, BW2, X, Y since they've been released. You think they'd invest their time on those if they haven't moved on from that "Gen 1 is the best" notion?

And what relevance does this hold to my statement? I fail to comprehend the point you're trying to convey.

No. It's a fad without direction that will die out eventually.

Maybe....but this is a BIG fad, and it's really come out of nowhere.

I don't know what some of you people are saying but, Pokemon has NOT been as popular as it was in the late 90s....at least not in America (The only country that counts).

Except it is. Do you have any idea how much ORAS sold? Movies, anime, Pokemon is a gigantic as ever. It was obvious this was gonna be a massive success because of how big mobile is. You are probably literally the only person who is surprised by this.

What's your basis for such generalization?

It didn't come out of nowhere. It's rooted in the Pokemon RPG's and there was always a fanbase who could help it launch. Still, the game doesn't seem to have anything going for it besides catching a lot of Pokemon. More complex games died out.

Its way too early to tell. i just tried it properly for the 1st time today and I had fun but it needs more like it needs the option to battle other trainers to keep me interested.

They need to add more stuff to do to keep the momentum. Maybe give us the option to do some treasure hunting like finding Evolution stones, hidden treasure chests that have lots of pokeballs, poke coins and maybe other items. lets us have badges when we beat a certain amount of gyms and maybe even allow us to get real physical version through some method that we can put in our rooms or something as trophy's.

Allow us to bet Poke Coins with other trainers, maybe actually allow us to battle pokemon before capturing em. I want to use em man.

Need much more Pokemon in the world of course but bring em out slowly. also needs those bugs fixed, I HATE it when the app or server freezes after I caught em, gotta quit the app then jump back in to keep playing.

I hear there's more features to be unlocked at level 5 though (I'm level 2)

If it just sticks with the way it is and not continue to add more features then it won't last long. And with this app, a LOT of things can be done with it.

I't's hard to say but I think it will make a lot of people who haven't messed with the franchise in years pick up Sun and Moon this fall especially if they already have a 3DS just out of curiosity.

I'm curious how long it will last Pokemania was a thing in America from like 1998-2000 or 2001 form what I gather (I was really young at the time) it's hard to say, a lot of the more causal people playing it will probably drop it this winter and not mess with it again but I'm sure that millions of people will also keep playing it.

It's interesting how many news companies are covering stories related to Pokemon Go.

This video isn't really that impressive anymore as so many stories are coming out with news stories about Pokemon Go now.

The original games on the Gameboy sold around 30 million something and Pokemon Go has been downloaded over 75 million times though that's because it's free to play.

The anime is still airing if I'm not wrong. Not sure about the cards tho, I guess they won't have a comeback, cardgames in general are dead (except for the classics like solitaire/poker).

In popularity, Pokemon Go will definitely make things better for Pokemon. But in quality, Pokemon is already at its height. The anime is better than its ever been, having actually well-animated battles, and game wise, Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon is a contender for one of the best games out there in my opinion.

So, for those of you that are too young.....back in the late 90s, Pokemon EXPLODED in the U.S and much of the world.

It was the most popular thing since air conditioners.....and if you were a kid, you definitely HAD Pokemon cards.

Pokemon became insanely addictive and so did everything with it's name on it including the anime, Game Boy game, toys and much more.

Now that Pokemon Go has become a HUGE hit (funny enough with young adults).....do you think this will be the 2nd Golden age for Pokemon?

Do Pokemon cards and the anime itself have a chance of making a comeback?!!

I'm personally not sure.....but the kid inside me that collected SO MANY CARDS and watched the entire first series.....yeah, I'm loving this!

I don't know. Part of me hopes so but I know 99% of the Pokemon Go players are psuedo Pokemon fans meaning they're only following the hype train. Yeah, they might be having fun but they have no vested interest in Pokemon or buying the products.

I'm glad Pokemon is back in the spotlight but I'm not foolish enough to think we'll get a new wave of genuine Pokemon players and people to invest in the franchise longterm.

Not sure, in a sense maybe. But I doubt a lot of people playing go will actually spend money on a 3DS and the new pokemon games.

Personally I feel like resuming by "Y" Play through (Still not completed it)
